At A Glance

Four habits for lifelong sparkle

The simple rituals that keep your jewellery looking the way it did on the day you first wore it.

Clean Gently

01

Clean Gently

Warm water, a drop of mild washing-up liquid and a soft brush. Little and often keeps diamonds bright.

Store Separately

02

Store Separately

Rest each piece in its Bond box or its own lined compartment so diamonds never scratch your metal.

Take It Off

03

Take It Off

Remove rings for the gym, swimming, cleaning and gardening. Impacts and chemicals cause most damage.

Cleaning At Home

A five-minute ritual for brilliant sparkle

Lotions, soap and everyday life leave a film on diamonds that dulls their fire. Clean your rings every couple of weeks to keep light pouring through the stone.

1

Prepare a warm bath

Fill a small bowl with warm (not hot) water and a few drops of gentle washing-up liquid.

2

Soak for five minutes

Let your ring rest in the water to loosen everyday build-up behind the stone.

3

Brush softly

Use a soft, baby-sized toothbrush around the claws, under the stone and along the band.

4

Rinse and dry

Rinse under warm running water with the plug in, then pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

5

Polish to finish

Buff the metal with the polishing cloth supplied with your Bond piece.

Jeweller's Tip  Never use bleach, toothpaste or abrasive cleaners. If a stone feels loose or rattles, stop and bring it to us before cleaning.

In Our Showroom

Complimentary Ultrasonic Cleaning

Bring in any piece purchased from Bond and we will restore its sparkle while you wait. Every clean begins with a careful inspection of the claws and setting, so you leave with total peace of mind. Perfect before a wedding, an anniversary or simply because.

Storage

A safe place to rest

Diamond is the hardest natural material on earth, which means it can scratch other jewellery, including other diamond pieces. Where your jewellery rests matters.

◆  Use your Bond box

Each piece arrives in a fabric-lined box designed to cushion and protect it.

◆  Keep pieces apart

Separate compartments or soft pouches stop rings scratching one another and chains tangling.

◆  Choose one spot

Always return your jewellery to the same place. It is the simplest way never to misplace it.

◆  Away from steam and sun

Keep jewellery out of bathrooms and direct sunlight, where humidity and heat can affect delicate stones.

Everyday Wear

When to take it off

We know your ring rarely leaves your finger. These are the moments when slipping it off protects it most.

Gym & Sport

Weights and grips can bend a band out of shape and loosen claws.

Swimming & Hot Tubs

Chlorine weakens gold alloys, and cold water shrinks fingers.

Cleaning & Chemicals

Bleach and household sprays dull metal and stones.

Gardening & DIY

Soil, grit and knocks are the enemy of fine settings.

Cooking & Baking

Dough and oils collect under the stone and dim its sparkle.

Lotions & Sleep

Apply creams first, and remove rings at night to avoid snagging.

Metal Care

Caring for your precious metal

Each metal ages in its own beautiful way. Here is what to expect, and how we can help.

18k Yellow Gold

Warm & timeless

18k Yellow Gold

A rich, durable alloy. Over time it develops a soft satin lustre; a professional polish restores its mirror shine.

18k White Gold

Bright & icy

18k White Gold

Finished with rhodium for a brilliant white. This plating gently wears with time; re-plating brings back the bright finish.

18k Rose Gold

Soft & romantic

18k Rose Gold

Its copper content makes it strong and its blush deepens beautifully. Keep it away from chlorine and harsh chemicals.

950 Platinum

Naturally white

950 Platinum

Dense and hard-wearing, platinum forms a soft patina rather than losing metal. Polish it back to a high shine at any time.

Diamonds & Gemstones

Keeping every stone brilliant

◇

Natural & Lab-Grown Diamonds

Chemically identical and equally hard, natural and lab-grown diamonds need exactly the same care. Oils from skin are their biggest enemy, so clean regularly to keep the light pouring through.

◇

Coloured Gemstones

Sapphires and rubies are tough, but softer stones such as emeralds can be sensitive to heat and ultrasonic cleaning. Clean them only with lukewarm soapy water and ask us before any professional clean.

◇

Pavé & Delicate Settings

Tiny claws hold pavé and micro-set diamonds in place. Brush them gently, avoid snagging on knitwear, and let us check them at least once a year.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We advise against it. Soap, shampoo and conditioner can leave a residue on the stone and its setting, gradually dulling its sparkle and potentially weakening prong integrity over time.

Absolutely — in fact, we encourage it. However, we recommend removing it during swimming, intensive exercise, gardening, cooking and cleaning to minimise exposure to chemicals and physical impact.

For high-contact activities such as weightlifting, boxing or team sports, we strongly recommend removing your ring. Low-impact activities like yoga or walking pose less of a risk, though caution is always wise.

The fabric-lined box or pouch that came with your purchase is ideal. Store it in a consistent, easy-to-remember spot away from direct sunlight and moisture.

We suggest a gentle home clean every one to two months, depending on how often it is worn. A professional ultrasonic clean once a year is also recommended to address areas that are difficult to reach at home.

Yes, always. Chlorinated pool water and salt water can both affect metal quality and loosen stone settings over time. Cold water can also temporarily shrink your fingers, increasing the chance of losing your ring.

Stop wearing it and contact us at Bond Jewellery & Diamonds as soon as possible. Attempting any DIY repairs can cause further damage. For pieces covered under our Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty, we will arrange assessment and repair at no cost to you.

Yes. We offer complimentary ultrasonic cleaning for all jewellery purchased from us. Simply book a drop-in appointment and our team will have your piece looking radiant again within minutes.

We recommend a professional clean and inspection at least once a year, and before any special occasion. For every piece bought from Bond, our ultrasonic cleaning is complimentary and completed while you wait.

No. Lab-grown diamonds have the same chemical make-up and hardness as natural diamonds, so the same cleaning, storage and wear advice applies.

White gold is finished with a bright rhodium plating, which gradually softens with wear and reveals the warmer gold beneath. This is completely normal. Re-plating restores the bright white finish; speak to our team to arrange it.
